Bum Rush The Vote is real and our model candidate (George Martinez – The ONLY Occupy Activist on a Primary Ballot – straight out of OWS) has beaten back the petition challenges to get on the ballot for June 26th Democratic Primary…we are the 99% and it’s time to Occupy a seat in Congress. #J26OccupyNY7
We’re at a critical stage in our campaign to take back the seats of our elected officials on behalf of the people, the 99%. At this stage what we need most is your help fighting the corporate political machines. We won’t take corporate money, but we do need grassroots financial support – it’s up to you to help us occupy this seat. Wer’re relying on a viral crowd sourced campaign and we need YOU to make our movement and funding become a viral cause. Together we will Bum Rush The Vote!!!
General objections were filed against us last week, but it looks like they are not going to be initiating a ballot challenge as specifications were not filed by the deadline. We found out on May Day that we are on the ballot! Seems like they heard us loud and clear, that we were not going to tolerate any sort of voter suppression money game.
In our efforts to get money out of politics, unfortunately we still have to raise money. Please contribute to our Act Blue page. We are committed to not taking any corporate money in this election. That means we need many small donations. Our opponent’s money has hardly come from small donors at all. It mainly comes from Washington, PAC’s and the Banks. This is what separates us.
If you truly believe in getting money out of politics, we are on the front lines. As yet, we cannot get money out of politics, but we CAN get corporate money out of politics, but only if the people who say they care about it, prove that with actual support and real resources.
May 1, 2012: After tens of thousands marched from Union Square to Wall Street, filling twenty five blocks of the city with people; representatives of unions, immigrant rights groups and the occupy wall street movement address a jubilant crowd. “For all the people who thought we fell asleep this winter, loud and clear, once and for all you see all the work we put in across the wintertime!” – George Martinez
